On the 25th of October the movie “Beatle Jew” from Szarfer and Wagensberg will be screened at the greatest documentary film festival in central and eastern Europe.
Curators of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival describe the film as a journey in search of personal identity. It reveals a history stretching from Spain all the way to the Czech village of Batelov, whose “Wild West” heroes have found eternal rest at the local Jewish cemetery. Grandfather Moritz, whose picture inspired the film, lives on in the memory of old “Sheriff” Mirabelski – a mediator of remarkable historical moments. The film produced by Mozaika in 2012 will be screened at the House of Culture and Trade Unions (DKO) within the Short Joy section. This programm presents a selection of the best Czech and international documentary shorts – consummate works exploring the possibilities and strengths of documentary film within a limited time framework.
